TAG-Confucius Institute Holds 2025 “International Chinese Language Day” Celebrations

On the occasion of the 2025 “International Chinese Language Day”, Amman TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI), Jordan, successfully held a series of celebrations with the theme of “Chinese Language: A Gift Across Time and Space” from April 7 to 17, including Chinese experience class, poetry and dance, brush calligraphy and painting, intangible cultural heritage tie-dye, and Chinese speech contest. The teachers, students and parents gathered to celebrate this grand festival for Chinese language learners worldwide.
In the Chinese experience class, the teacher gave a lively and interesting lecture “Colors of Seasons” to children who actively interacted and learned Chinese expressions related to the four seasons. Now it’s spring, so the teacher combined the theme of spring and led the children to learn and recite the ancient Chinese poem “A Spring Morning” and choreographed a vivid poetry dance, allowing the children to experience the artistic conception of classical Chinese poetry through rhythm and dance. The classroom atmosphere was lively and received praises from the students and parents.

Brush calligraphy and painting attracted much attention. Under the guidance of the teacher, children students used brushes to draw adorable pandas, experiencing the unique charm of Chinese ink painting.

The children held up their paintings for a group photo after completing their works and their innocent smiles showed their love for Chinese culture. Adult students, on the other hand, took up their brushes to write the seal characters meaning “China-Jordan friendship lasts forever”, experiencing the profound historical heritage and artistic beauty of Chinese characters in each stroke and expressing their good wishes for the friendship between China and Jordan.

As one of the highlights of the event, children and adult students jointly experienced the traditional Chinese intangible cultural heritage art tie-dye. Under the teacher’s explanation, the participants learned about the techniques of tie-dye and made tie-dye works by hand. Tie-dye, with its ancient and diverse patterns, shows the artistic wisdom and folk aesthetics contained in traditional Chinese handicrafts, and is deeply loved by students.

It is worth mentioning that TAG-CI also organized a Chinese speech contest with the theme of “My Story with China” specifically for adult students. The contestants carefully prepared for the contest under the guidance of the teachers. The atmosphere at the contest site was lively.

The contestants shared their experiences of learning Chinese, the gains from participating in the program to China, and the stories and achievements of studying in China with sincere emotions and fluent Chinese. The contest not only showed the students’ language competence, but also reflected the high-quality Chinese teaching results of TAG-CI.

The “International Chinese Language Day” event not only deepened students’ understanding of Chinese language and culture, but also further promoted the cultural exchanges and emotional resonance between the people of China and Jordan through the diverse presentation of language, art and skills.

The event ended successfully with the blessings of the teachers and students for the “International Chinese Language Day”. TAG-CI will continue to be committed to building a bridge for cultural exchanges between China and Jordan, and promote the vigorous development of Chinese education in Jordan through more language and cultural activities.
