TAG-Confucius Institute Co-hosts “Chinese Culture Day” at Jadara University

On December 24, TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI), together with the China Cultural Center in Amman (CCCA), co-hosted “Chinese Culture Day” at Jadara University.

The event featured keynote lectures, cultural exhibitions and interactive activities, attracting around 150 faculty members and students from the university.
Dr. Shukri Marashdh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Jadara University, and Dr. Habes Al-Zboon, President of the University, respectively extended a warm welcome to Mr. Zhao Xiaoqiang, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Jordan and Director of CCCA, and Dr. Yang Songfang, Chinese Director of TAG-CI. The two sides held in-depth and friendly discussions on Chinese language education, cultural exchange and academic cooperation.
The event was then officially launched in the university auditorium. In his remarks, Mr. Zhao Xiaoqiang noted that the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China clearly emphasized that China will continue to expand high-level opening-up, share development opportunities with countries around the world, and foster a new landscape of win-win cooperation. He pointed out that China and Jordan have long enjoyed a solid foundation of cooperation in education, culture, and other fields, and expressed confidence that the two sides will achieve more substantive outcomes in youth talent cultivation and academic and scientific research exchanges in the future.
During the lecture, Dr. Yang Songfang highlighted the achievements and key programs of TAG-CI, including Chinese language teaching, cultural events, HSK Test, scholarships, Summer Camp to China, Educators Delegation to China, “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition, and the others, attracting strong interest among faculty members and students in attendance. She also patiently addressed questions raised by the students.
Ms. Reem Husein, a partner of CCCA, shared her experiences from the exchange visit to China. Her presentation on China’s achievements in modernization and practical experience in the integrated development of culture and tourism attracted wide attention from faculty members and students present.

At the event venue, the teachers from TAG-CI also presented interactive Chinese cultural activities, including calligraphy, tea ceremony and painting. Under the guidance and demonstrations of TAG-CI teachers, the faculty members and students tried writing their Chinese names with brush and ink, tasting Chinese tea, and appreciating traditional paintings, allowing them to experience firsthand the unique charm of Chinese culture and deepen their understanding of China.
Dr. Luqman Rababah, Director of the Language Center at Jadara University, expressed his gratitude to TAG-CI and CCCA for their strong support for the event. He also looks forward to deepening cooperation with TAG-CI in Chinese language education, providing the university students with more opportunities to learn Chinese language and gain insights into China. Both sides stated that they will maintain ongoing communication and advance relevant cooperation matters.
