TAG-Confucius Institute Celebrates International Children’s Day

On May 30, TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI) celebrated the International Children’s Day, which included Hanfu (traditional Chinese costume) experience, handcrafting and writing messages. TAG-CI also prepared lollipops, popcorn, etc. for children. Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa, Jordanian Director of TAG-CI, Dr. Yang Songfang, Chinese Director of TAG-CI, Ms. Randa Al-Yabroudi, Deputy Director of TAG-CI, the teachers of TAG-CI, the children students and their parents participated in the celebrations.

Dr. Yang Songfang first welcomed the children and their parents to TAG-CI and wished them a happy Children's Day in her speech. She expressed that the International Children’s Day is a grand festival for children around the world. TAG-CI prepared various interesting activities for children, as well as lollipops and popcorn that children like to eat. She stated that childhood is the most beautiful time in life, and as children grow up day by day, the joy of childhood will soon become beautiful memories in life. She wished that the children grow up healthily and happily, always maintaining a pure childlike innocence.

The children’s faces were filled with bright smiles and then they participated in the fun activities.

The first activity was to experience the beauty of Hanfu. Hanfu is a traditional Chinese costume that has been passed down from ancient times to the present. The styles of different dynasties are different. The children were full of interest in Hanfu and were eager to try it on. After putting on Hanfu with the help of the teachers, the boys looked lively and the girls were graceful as if they were playing in the street in ancient times.

The second activity was handcrafting—origami. Origami is a traditional Chinese art, and this activity aimed to make children discover the joy of origami. Simple paper can be transformed into various forms of handicrafts.

The teachers first guided the children to make flower bouquets. The children chose their favorite color of paper to make the flowers, then stuck the flower branches, and finally stuck a heart.

A beautiful flower bouquet was born. After that they learned to make a love lollipop. Under the teacher's guidance, the children first cut a heart shape with colored paper, then inserted a lollipop in the middle, drew eyes, mouth, and two ears, so the lively love lollipop was ready. We wished that the children had a sweet Children’s Day and grew up in love.

The third activity was writing messages on the handicrafts. In order to express their love to their moms on the Children’s Day, the children wrote their heartfelt words, such as “Mom, I love you” in Chinese and English.

For some characters they didn’t know, they wrote Chinese Pinyin. Some children also wrote “Happy Children’s Day” in Chinese. When the lovely children gave their works to their moms, they were very pleased to receive the gifts from their children.

At this time, the song “Childhood” was played, and each child was distributed a cup of popcorn. Eating the popcorn and sucking a lollipop, all the children enjoyed the beauty and sweetness of the Children's Day. The celebrations came to an end in laughter and singing. TAG-CI wished all children a happy Children’s Day and growing up happily with inner childishness forever.
