Amman - TAG-Confucius Institute hosted Mr. Yunus Emre, director of the Turkish Cultural Center, and discussed with him means of cooperation between the Institute and Center.

During the meeting, a quick review of services and activities provided by the Institute was given to the guest, with emphasis laid on its main role as being the first official authorized center by the Chinese government and Hanban Department for teaching Chinese language and for conducting language proficiency tests in Chinese.

Mr. Mamoun Abu Sabaa, director of TAG-Confucius Center, briefed the guest on the services provided by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Group in general, and the numerous TAG offices scattered all over the world including TAG offices currently existing and fully operational in China; he also gave him an account of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh-Confucius Institute itself since its establishment, listing all the training courses it offers for adults, children, and businessmen. Talks also tackled the visa section (visa), as the institute is the only accredited entity in Jordan for processing entry visas to the People s Republic of China.

Ms. Yang Song Phan, Dean of the institute, spoke about scholarships offered by the institute for students, and the Chinese language proficiency test (HSK), in addition to the multiple activities, the Chinese language skills competitions and other events they organize.

For his part, Mr. Yunus provided an overview of services offered by the Turkish Cultural Center and at the same time he commended the activities and efforts made by the Institute. He was also impressed by the Institute library and its contents, comprising valuable educational and cultural books to disseminate the Chinese language and Chinese culture among students. He expressed his hope to further collaborate in future in organizing many activities and programs.

Mr. Yunus Emre pointed out that the center is keen to promote and enhance cooperation with Jordan through organizing several cultural, scientific and educational activities, and that it is primarily concerned with disseminating the Turkish history and Turkish culture, arts and language along with knowledge about prominent iconic Turkish figures renowned in the Turkish cultural area, such as poets and mystics or Sufis: Yunus Emre , Jalaluddin Rumi , and Haji Bektash Vali

It is noteworthy that the TAG -Confucius Institute was established in 2008 to promote the learning of the Chinese language and culture in Jordan, in order to reach a better mutual understanding between Arab and Chinese cultures and this unique initiative is based on

a cooperation agreement concluded and signed between Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Group and Confucius Institute in China
