TAG-Confucius Institute Holds a Series of Online Experience Activities of Ice and Snow Culture


From February 8 to February 15, TAG-Confucius Institute held a series of online experience activities of ice and snow culture to send blessings to Beijing Winter Olympic Games, including Winter Olympic knowledge explanation, introduction to the development of China’s ice and snow culture, Chinese teaching on Winter Olympic Games, watching the opening ceremony of Winter Olympic Games.

The teachers first introduced the theme, emblem, mascot, sports and famous Chinese Olympic athletes of Beijing Winter Olympic Games. 

The teachers then introduced the development of China’s ice and snow sports. China’s ice and snow culture is an indispensable part of the world’s ice and snow culture. Its cultural traits contribute Chinese wisdom to the world’s ice and snow culture.

The teachers explained the ancient stories of “Lying on the ice to fetch carp for his stepmother”, “Standing in the snow before Master Cheng Yi’s gate”, as well as the folk customs about ice and snow. China’s modern ice and snow culture attracted the students a lot, who were immersed in the unique ice lanterns, ice sculptures of Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival which is held annually.
In the Chinese class on Beijing Winter Olympic Games, the students learned many Chinese expressions about Winter Olympic Games and actively participated in the Q & A activity.

They also watched the fantastic opening ceremony of Beijing Winter Olympic Games with excitement and exclamation for the harmonious integration of beauty, nature, technology and culture.

From the experience activities of ice and snow culture, the students not only knew about Beijing Winter Olympic Games, China’s ice and snow culture, but also deeply understood the concept of a community for a shared future for mankind. Beijing Winter Olympic Games is a successful practice of the new Olympic motto of “Faster, Higher, Stronger, Together”.

With the theme song of Beijing Winter Olympic Games “Together for a Shared Future”, the students sent their blessings to Beijing Winter Olympic Games, wishing the athletes from all countries to achieve good results and Beijing Winter Olympic Games a complete success.
