TAG-Confucius Institute Participates in the Second International Cultural Day at Jadara University
On May 13, TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI) was invited to participate in the Second International Cultural Day hosted by Jadara University. Representative institutions from 20 countries, including China, Oman, Bahrain, Russia, Syria, Panama, Japan, and Thailand, gathered on campus to showcase the richness and diversity of world cultures. Representing China, TAG-CI set up a cultural exhibition booth featuring tea art, calligraphy, paper-cutting, traditional Chinese costume experiences, as well as displays of books and cultural products. The booth attracted many students, faculty members, and guests to visit and participate in interactive activities.
More than 500 participants attended the event, including university faculty and students, diplomats, and distinguished guests from various sectors of society. Among them were Mr. Shukri Al-Marashdeh, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Manager of Jadara University, Prof. Habes Hatamleh, President of the University, Dr. Iman Al-Basheti, Vice President of the university, and Dr. Luqman Rababah, Director of the Language Center and Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the International Cultural Day, Dr. Yang Songfang, Chinese Director of TAG-CI, Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa, Jordanian Director of TAG-CI, Ms. Randa Al-Yabroudi, Deputy Director of TAG-CI, and Ms. Zhou Tong, Chinese teacher of TAG-CI. Dr. Yang Songfang was invited to attend the opening ceremony and received a commemorative medal presented by the university.
During the opening ceremony, President Habes Hatamleh stated that hosting the International Cultural Day reflects Jordan’s vision of promoting intercultural communication through culture. He emphasized that Jadara University has always been committed to fostering the values of dialogue, tolerance, and openness while promoting cultural diversity. He also noted that the university is striving to cultivate a new generation capable of building bridges of peace and mutual understanding.
In his speech, Dr. Luqman Rababah stated that the Language Center has consistently attached great importance to cultivating students’ multilingual communication abilities and international perspectives. He added that the International Cultural Day fully demonstrated the diversity of campus culture and the university’s open and inclusive academic atmosphere.
The university leaders presented commemorative medals to Dr. Yang Songfang and other distinguished guests in recognition of their contributions to the successful organization of the Second International Cultural Day and their important role in promoting international cultural exchange and cooperation.
Following the ceremony, university leaders and international guests toured the cultural exhibition area together and experienced the diverse cultures on display. At TAG-CI booth, guests and students enjoyed Chinese tea, experienced calligraphy and paper-cutting art, and viewed various Chinese cultural exhibits. They expressed high appreciation for the unique charm of Chinese culture.
During the event, Dr. Luqman Rababah and TAG-CI team also exchanged views on the future establishment of Chinese language program at Jadara University. Both sides expressed their willingness to carry out deeper cooperation in Chinese language education in the near future. Dr. Luqman also thanked TAG-CI for its strong support for the International Cultural Day.
This International Cultural Day not only deepened Jordanian students’ and faculty members’ understanding of Chinese culture, but also further promoted cultural exchange and friendship between China and countries around the world. In the future, TAG-CI will continue to actively participate in and organize various cultural exchange activities, promote the development of international Chinese language education, and contribute to mutual learning among civilizations.
