TAG-Confucius Institute Participates in Lantern Festival Gala
On February 12, TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI) participated in the “Happy Spring Festival” Lantern Festival Gala hosted by China Cultural Center in Amman. More than 400 people including Chinese Ambassador to Jordan Mr. Chen Chuandong, Cultural Counselor and Director of China Cultural Center Ms. Shi Wei, Chinese Director of TAG-CI Dr. Yang Songfang, Jordanian Director of TAG-CI Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa, people from all walks of life in Jordan, overseas Chinese, teachers and students of Chinese teaching institutions celebrated the traditional Chinese festival in a joyful atmosphere.
Ambassador Chen stated in his speech that the Spring Festival customs carry the spiritual bloodline of the Chinese people and are a window to experience Chinese culture. The people of China and Jordan both advocate peace, value traditions, cherish families, are open and inclusive, respect cultural diversity, and share the common genes of Asian and Oriental civilizations.
The Lantern Festival embodies the wish for reunion and a better life. China and Jordan will work together to promote lasting peace in the Middle East.
The cute children students from TAG-CI ignited the atmosphere of the gala with their performances including children’s songs “Two Tigers” “Color Song” “Happy New Year” and lion dance, winning applause from the audience.
The joy conveyed by the children in their performances transcended language, which was the most moving cultural exchange. Dr. Yang Songfang and Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa were invited as lucky draw guests to present the prizes to the lucky audience on site.
At the gala, the guests also enjoyed performances such as martial arts, cross-talk, dance, stage plays, and Han-style costume shows, vividly showcasing the cultural exchange and integration between China and Jordan.
