TAG-Confucius Institute Organizes Semi-Final of the 25th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students in Jordan 
On May 21, the semi-final of the 25th Chinese Bridge-Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students in Jordan and the 17th “The Great Wall–Petra Cup” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Jordanian College Students was successfully held. The event was jointly hosted by Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China and the Chinese Embassy in Jordan, and organized by Amman TAG-Confucius Institute. A total of 27 contestants from TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI), the University of Jordan (UJ), Confucius Institute at Philadelphia University (CIPU), Al-Ahliyya Amman University (AAU), and Applied Science Private University (ASU) competed on the same stage.
Among the distinguished guests attending the event were Mr. Zhao Xiaoqiang, Cultural Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Jordan and Director of the China Cultural Center in Amman, Ms. Zhuang Ziyue, Secretary of the Cultural Office of the Chinese Embassy; Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa, Jordanian Director of TAG-CI, Dr. Yang Songfang, Chinese Director of TAG-CI, Ms. Randa Al-Yabroudi, Deputy Director of TAG-CI; Dr. Yousef Khataybeh, Head of Chinese Teaching at UJ; Dr. Dima Al-Malahmeh, Jordanian Director of CIPU, Dr. Ding Haibin, Chinese Director of CIPU; Dr. Renata Al-Asali, Head of Language Department at AAU; Dr. Haifaa Aldabbagh, Head of Chinese Teaching at ASU; as well as teachers, students, and Chinese language enthusiasts from various institutions. More than 120 people attended the event.
The theme of this year’s competition was “One World, One Family.” The semi-final consisted of a themed speech and a quiz covering the Chinese language, Chinese culture, and China’s national conditions. A panel of seven judges, composed of the Chinese embassy officials and Chinese language teachers, evaluated the contestants.
During the speech session, contestants focused closely on the theme “One World, One Family.” Drawing on their experiences learning Chinese, participating in exchange programs in China, and their understanding of cultural exchanges between China and Arab countries, they shared in fluent and sincere Chinese their reflections on world 


harmony, peace, and the concept of a global community with a shared future for mankind. The contestants spoke naturally and confidently, fully demonstrating their strong Chinese language proficiency.
In the quiz session, faced with challenging questions, the contestants remained calm and answered actively, showcasing impressive learning outcomes and a deep love for Chinese culture. Their performances reflected the enthusiasm and vitality of Jordanian youth in learning Chinese and understanding China.
After fierce competition, a total of 10 outstanding contestants advanced to the final round, including five contestants from TAG-CI, three from UJ, and two from CIPU. The competition not only provided a platform for Jordanian university students to showcase their Chinese language proficiency and exchange learning experiences, but also contributed to the further development of Chinese language education and the promotion of Chinese culture in Jordan.
The finalists will compete in the final round on June 3, further demonstrating the vitality and aspirations of youth and contributing to a new chapter in China–Jordan cultural exchanges and China-Arab civilizational exchange and mutual learning.
