TAG-Confucius Institute Hosts Pre-Test Training and Seminar for “Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages”
On June 20, TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI) together with China Cultural Center in Amman hosted a pre-test training and seminar for “Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages” (CTC). Mr. Zhao Xiaoqiang, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Jordan and Director of China Cultural Center in Amman, Dr. Yang Songfang, Chinese Director of TAG-CI, teachers from TAG-CI, local Chinese language teachers, CTC candidates, Chinese major students from Jordanian universities, and Chinese and Jordanian participants interested in pursuing a career in international Chinese language education attended the event, with more than 20 participants in total.
In his remarks, Mr. Zhao Xiaoqiang fully recognized the positive contributions and fruitful achievements made by TAG-CI in promoting Chinese language education and enhancing people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and Jordan. He expressed appreciation to all the teachers of TAG-CI for their careful preparation and dedicated efforts in organizing the CTC pre-test training and seminar. He pointed out that CTC is an important reflection of the professional competence of international Chinese language teachers and plays a significant role in enhancing the professional development of the teaching workforce and promoting the high-quality development of international Chinese language education. International Chinese language teachers should not only possess solid language teaching skills but also have a deep understanding of Chinese culture, cross-cultural communication competence, and a strong sense of responsibility. He encouraged the candidates to cherish this learning opportunity, continuously improve their professional competence and teaching abilities, and contribute to the development of Chinese language education in Jordan.

Subsequently, Dr. Yang Songfang introduced TAG-CI as CTC test center and the significance of organizing this training and seminar. She noted that TAG-CI was officially approved in 2025 as an overseas test center for CTC, becoming the second CTC test center in West Asia and the only one in Jordan. This marks a solid step forward for TAG-CI in promoting the professionalization and standardization of international Chinese language education. The establishment of the test center not only provides more convenient career development opportunities for Chinese language teachers in Jordan and neighboring countries but also further promotes the localization and professional development of international Chinese language teaching professionals in the Middle East. Dr. Yang stated that the training and seminar aimed to provide practical guidance and support for candidates through thematic lectures, case studies, and experience sharing, helping them improve their test preparation skills and approach the test with greater confidence and readiness.
The training and seminar focused on two major components of the CTC test: the primary written test and the interview. During the written test training session, TAG-CI teacher Ms. Guan Xia provided a systematic overview of the CTC program, including the content of the primary written test, competency requirements, test structure, question types, and answering strategies. Through analysis of test cases, she offered an in-depth explanation of short-answer question and teaching design task, helping candidates clarify response strategies and master teaching design methods. Besides, teacher Ms. Xu Shan demonstrated and analyzed short-answer question through specific cases, providing candidates with precise and effective preparation guidance.

During the interview training session, teacher Mr. Su Hanyuan gave a detailed introduction to the interview procedures, test requirements, and lesson presentation section. Through case demonstrations, he helped candidates understand the basic structure and presentation techniques of lesson planning. Teacher Ms. Zhou Tong provided case-based analysis of the teaching demonstration and Chinese Q&A sections, offering systematic guidance on class design, teaching implementation, language expression, and response strategies. 
Dr. Yang introduced the foreign-language Q&A section, taking English Q&A as an example, provided a detailed analysis of assessment focuses, frequently tested question categories, response frameworks, case analysis, and preparation suggestions. The session helped candidates better understand test requirements, master response methods, and improve the effectiveness of their interview preparation.
Throughout the training, participants listened attentively and actively engaged in discussions. They exchanged views on topics including test preparation, teaching design, classroom management, and cross-cultural communication. Some candidates shared their own preparation experiences and learning reflections, providing valuable insights for others. In response to candidates’ questions, the instructors conducted on-site Q&A sessions and held in-depth discussions on relevant teaching cases.
At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Yang delivered closing remarks. She expressed her hope that all candidates would remain confident, prepare diligently, and take this training and seminar as an opportunity to further enhance their professional competence and practical skills, while continuing to explore and grow in the field of international Chinese language education. 

Mr. Zhao interacted with the candidates and encouraged them to actively engage in international Chinese language education, continuously improve their overall abilities, and make contributions to promoting mutual learning between Chinese and other civilizations.
The successful organization of this CTC pre-test training and seminar not only provided candidates with systematic and professional test guidance but also created a platform for experience exchange in international Chinese language education. It further promoted the professional development of Chinese language teachers in Jordan and contributed to the high-quality development of Chinese language education in the country.
