Luay Abu-Ghazaleh Attends 17th Board Meeting of TAG-Confucius Institute


On November 3, the 17th Board Meeting of TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI) was successfully convened. The meeting was attended by Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh, Vice Chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Global (TAG.Global) and Jordanian President of the Board of TAG-CI, Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa, Jordanian Director of TAG-CI; Dr. Tong Yuping, Vice President of Shenyang Normal University (SYNU) and Chinese President of the Board of TAG-CI, Mr. Luo Baoxu, Director of the Publicity Department, Ms. Wang Xin, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, Ms. Hu Bo, Deputy Director of Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, and Dr. Yang Songfang, Chinese Director of TAG-CI.
In his speech, Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh extended warm greetings to all Board members and, on behalf of TAG.Global and on a personal level, conveyed his sincere regards to both old and new friends from SYNU. He expressed his gratitude to the university for providing TAG-CI with an excellent team of Director and teachers. 
Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh warmly congratulated Director Dr. Yang Songfang on receiving the “Medal for Long Service as a Confucius Institute Director” by Chinese International Education Foundation (CIEF), commending her decade of dedication and exceptional leadership that has brought the Institute remarkable success. 
He reaffirmed TAG.Global’s continued and full support for the Institute’s development and it mission to promote Chinese language and culture in Jordan. Mr. Abu-Ghazaleh also expressed his hope to visit China next year to meet SYNU team in person and further strengthen friendship and cooperation, voicing his confidence that the Institute’s future will be even more prosperous.


Dr. Tong Yuping, in her address, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, Chairman of TAG.Global, as well as to Mr. Luay Abu-Ghazaleh and Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa, for their long-term and strong support for the TAG-CI’s development. She also extended warm congratulations to Dr. Yang Songfang on receiving the “Medal for Long Service as a Confucius Institute Director”.
 Dr. Tong noted that this medal, awarded by CIEF, honors directors who have served at Confucius Institutes for ten years or more, earned high recognition from Chinese and local sides, and made outstanding contributions to their Institutes’ growth.
 It not only acknowledges the achievements of Confucius Institutes but also fully recognizes and encourages the dedication of their directors.
Dr. Tong emphasized that, with the strong support of TAG.Global and the joint efforts of both Chinese and Jordanian staff, TAG-CI had successfully completed all its teaching and cultural exchange tasks in 2024. The Institute achieved excellent results in events such as “Chinese Bridge” Competition and the “CI Moments” Global Short Video Contest.
 She pointed out that TAG-CI has become an important bridge and link for enhancing cooperation and mutual understanding between China and Jordan in various fields. SYNU will continue to provide solid support for the Institute’s future development.
Subsequently, Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa and Dr. Yang Songfang presented detailed reports on TAG-CI’s 2024 work summary, 2025 work plan, and projects’ final accounts and budget, covering areas such as Chinese language teaching, cultural promotion, project implementation, academic research, and institutional management. 

All Board members fully recognized the Institute’s accomplishments. After deliberation, the Board unanimously approved, in principle, the 2024 work report, 2025 work plan, 2024 final accounts and 2025 budget proposal.
In her concluding remarks, Ms. Wang Xin expressed heartfelt gratitude to TAG.Global for its long-standing support and trust, highly commended the dedication and professionalism of TAG-CI team, and expressed the hope that both sides will continue to work hand in hand in the coming year to further elevate the Institute’s achievements and contribute even more to enhancing China–Jordan friendship and cultural exchange.
