Abu-Ghazaleh Patronizes launch of the novel “Ahlam Al Orchieda” by Dalinda Al-Hassan

Amman – HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh patronized the launch ceremony for the novel “Ahlam Al Orchieda” (Dreams of Orchid) by Dalinda Al-Hassan; organized by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum (TAGKF) as a part of its cultural program “In Hosting a Book”.
During the ceremony, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh praised the author and the efforts of “Al-Aan Publishers and Distributors” for their interests in youth creativity, their cultural role and expertise in the distribution field.
Abu-Ghazaleh recalled stories of his childhood, affirming that Palestinians will never give up their land or their commitment to their cause, calling on the youth to make every effort to fulfill their ambitions and aspirations.
During the panel discussion, moderated by General Manager of Al-Aan Publishers and Distributors Author Ja’far Oqaily and with the participation of Critic and Academician Dr. Maha Qasrawi, Researcher Mustafa Khashman and Graduate Student Nuha (Sheiwy Shuang shein) from China, Qasrawi affirmed: “the novel reveals the fragility and weakness of reality which motivates some youths to look for a way off their society to fulfill their ambitions and other youths to look for a treatment for their psychological, social and physical diseases abroad."
“The Orchid is the climax and the resolution. It grows everywhere and can survive and bloom wherever it is.” she referred.
For his part, Researcher Al-Khashman read an extract from the novel. He observed that the Orchid represents Palestine, the rock in the middle of the hill is the Arab world and the ship is the English dream to seize that world. He also points out that the novel begins with a political theme and then changes to a subjective approach that follows the good and bad stages of Shereen’s life.
“Most of the novel elements are completed. The narration shows the talent and the education of the author. She masters describing the small events and hidden details as if she collects these small things to draw a bigger picture that allow the reader a space to imagine the scene and beyond” he added.
Chinese Student Nuha (Sheiwy Shuang shein) said: “she sees that the Orchid is not only a symbol of ancient Chinese culture and philosophy but also an implied painful historical story of the Levant during colonial days.”
“The mix of the standard Arabic and Jordanian colloquial language in the narration makes the literature more tangible and vivid for the next generation. In addition, the story maintains a number of stories and legends popular in the Levant and China as a model of the cultural rapprochement” she added.
Author Dalinda Al-Hassan thanked Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh for his patronage of her first art work. She also referred to the importance of this work not only because it is her first, but also because it represents a part of her life that is similar to the Orchid flower’s life since it calls us to reconcile ourselves, have hope and overcome challenges.
She also read an extract of her novel that narrates a memory of her life. It reads: “May peace be upon Jabal Al-Weibdeh, bare branches in the harsh winter and sad memories. What a scented cold breeze, a pure light, a beautiful sun hiding behind the snowy clouds. It is snow, the feather of the pure sky that ends up on the graves for the dead people to scatter to awaken our sleepy souls. It is the door of their memory …”
Memorial shields were exchanged at the close of the ceremony.
