Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Attends ‘70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China Seminar’
AMMAN - Chinese Embassy in Jordan and Alrai Center for Studies jointly held a seminar in Amman to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People’s Republic of China under the patronage of Chinese Ambassador HE Mr. Pan Weifang with high-ranking dignitaries and a host of members of the Chinese Community in the Kingdom in attendance.
In his speech, Ambassador Pan highlighted the strong diplomatic relations between China and Jordan dating back to 42 years, adding that China and Jordan have always regarded each other as true good friends and partners.
In recent years, the political mutual trust between the two sides has continue to deepen and pragmatic cooperation in various fields has continuously achieved fruitful results, according to the Ambassador.
Mr. Pan revealed that the 9th Ministerial meeting of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum will be held in Jordan next year, which will be another major event in the history of China-Arab relations.
“China has become Jordan’s third largest trade partner and the second largest source of imports. China is the major importer of Potash in Jordan.
“The project of Attarat Oil Shale power plant, in which China is involved in investment, financing and construction, is expected to be completed and put into operation next year, which will meet 10% to 15% of Jordan’s electricity demand,” he said.
For his part, Mr. Khaled Shogran, Director of Alrai Center for Studies affirmed that China has made outstanding contributions to the world peace and development noting that China has played an important role in international affairs and its global influence continues to grow.
Shogran expressed his honor to host a seminar in this context that explores the development of China-Jordan relations.
Director of the Asia-Pacific Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Malik Twal said that China has achieved remarkable achievements in the past 70 years, which is due to the wisdom of Chinese leaders, saying that the revival of China is not only an economic revival, but also a comprehensive rejuvenation in many fields.
In the interactive session, Jordanian Director of TAG-Confucius Mr. Mamoun Abu Al-Sebaa said that China’s achievements in economy, education, culture and other fields have attracted worldwide attention.
He also introduced the fruitful achievements of the Institute in Chinese language teaching and China-Jordan cultural exchanges noting that the Institute will continue to play its role in enhancing relations between China and Jordan.
At the end of the seminar attended by media representatives, the Ambassador answered questions of the attendees who as well wished for more prosperity and progress to China.
