TAG-Confucius Participates in the 13th Global Confucius Institute Conference in Chengdu
 
 
CHENGDU, China - Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute (TAG-Confucius) participated in the 13th Global Confucius Institute Conference, which was held in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province.
The Conference entitled "Boosting Joint Development through Innovation and Creating Future with Joint Efforts" was held with the participation of more than 1,500 participants representing presidents of universities and directors of Confucius Institutes and Centers from 154 countries. 
During the Conference, which included holding 20 workshops and 8 forums for Chinese and foreign university presidents, participants expressed their views on various issues including Innovation in the Schooling Pattern and Management Mechanism of Confucius Institutes, the Specialized Development of Chinese Language Projects and Confucius Institutes, as well as Digitalization of Confucius Institutes and Cultivating Plural Partnership System.
TAG-Confucius was represented by Mr. Mamoun Abu El Sebaa, Executive Director of the Institute and Professor Ms. Yang Song Fan, TAG-Confucius Dean. 
Abu El Sebaa expressed Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization's pride in establishing TAG-Confucius Institute as the first private institution to partner with the headquarters of the Confucius Institute/Hanban jointly with Shenyang Normal University as a Chinese partner university. 
Abu El Sebaa stated, "The Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute was established in September 2008 to disseminate Chinese language and culture in Jordan, and it is regarded as the first official center for Chinese language education and the first Chinese testing center in the Kingdom."
Abu El Sebaa pointed out that the Institute has become an important destination for the Jordanian society and companies seeking to engage in the business world and do business with the Chinese businessmen and companies. 
Furthermore, the Institute aims at building bridges between Jordan and China by organizing Chinese language courses and cultural events and celebrations.
 
He also explained that the Institute is supervising the scholarships program for Chinese universities, in addition he underlined the role and efforts of the Institute in organizing the cultural and educational visit China program for students and teachers, as well as organizing business training courses for those interested in doing business in China, which were attended by employees and managers of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org), Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Jordanian Engineers Association, Ministry of Tourism, as well as members of the local community.
 
Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute organizes introductory sessions for the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair), which is held twice a year, in cooperation with Chinese Foreign Trade Center (CFCT), in order to give an overview about the Fair’s three stages.
 
Moreover, Abu El Sebaa discussed with the Hanban officials the possibility of providing Chinese language courses and proficiency examinations all over the world through TAG-Org’s offices in more than 110 offices around the world, noting that TAG-Confucius is considering providing Chinese language courses and proficiency examinations online, since the Institute has the required qualifications and competencies.
 
On the sidelines of the conference, a series of activities were held including the Chinese Language Teaching Resource Exhibition of Confucius Institutes, the Confucius Institutes New Technology Application Exhibition, and the Sichuan Intangible Cultural Heritage Exhibition.
