TAG-Confucius Celebrates Chinese Spring Festival
AMMAN - March 17, 2016 - Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Confucius Institute celebrated the Chinese Spring Festival, China's most important traditional festival with the attendance of Chinese Ambassador to Jordan HE Pan Weifang and a host of Chinese and Jordanian society members.
The celebration was also attended by students of the Institute and their parents in addition to TAG-Confucius management and staff.
The traditional Spring Festival decorations, such as red lanterns, Spring Festival couplets, “Happiness” in Chinese character, Chinese knots, monkey dolls, etc. highlighted Chinese New Year flavor. Mr. Pan Weifang expressed his appreciation to TAG-Confucius for their efforts and achievements in promoting Chinese language and enhancing cultural exchange between China and Jordan, and expressed his gratitude to the Institute staff.
He added that rapid development of Chinese economy provides many opportunities for Jordanians and hoped they will love and learn well Chinese language.
Manager of TAG- Confucius Mr. Araz Mahserejian, extended his sincere gratitude and appreciation to the attendees for their attendance and support and gave a brief about the Institute’s Chinese language courses, cultural activities and implementation of HANBAN’s key programs such as scholarships, summer camp, etc.
Meanwhile, Ms. Yang Songfang, Chinese director of TAG-CI said in her speech that the Spring Festival is the biggest and most important festival in China. Through this celebration people can know more about the traditional festival culture of China. She hoped everyone present could participate in the cultural activities and games actively and taste delicious Chinese food. She wished everyone had a good time at TAG- Confucius.
The celebrating activities were rich and colorful, including Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, paper–folding, kicking shuttlecock, cat’s cradle, bamboo dragonfly, using chopsticks, three-legged race in addition to other activities.
This Spring Festival Celebration aimed to let Jordanians experience the festival atmosphere of happiness, warmth, reunion, luckiness and kindness. It also opened a window for Jordanians to know more about China and friendly Chinese people.
