TAG-Org Becomes World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers Member

AMMAN----December 27, 2012----- Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) has joined the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA), the global organization of the world's press representing more than 18,000 publications, 15,000 online sites and over 3,000 companies in more than 120 countries.5

HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG-Org chairman said: "We have been in the media business through our specialized news agencies for a long time covering intellectual property, information technology, and education issues around the world. We are glad to become part of the media world through our membership in WAN-IFRA as we believe we can contribute to the development of global media as well as enhancing further our media services."

Abu-Ghazaleh recently launched TAG-Educa News Agency, a specialized global media outlet in education as part of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University. Its launch follows the successful work of ag-ip-news Agency and TAG-IT News Agency.

"We saw a lack of specialized media bodies that cover certain vital subjects in our lives; our latest vision focuses on all facets of education through TAG-Educa News Agency," he added.

Talal Abu-Ghazaleh University (TAGIUNI), the gateway to world-class education, is set to officially launch in January 2013. It aims to democratize higher education by partnering with global institutions to make programs accessible and affordable, while fomenting higher levels of student discourse and global awareness. TAGIUNI provides comprehensive education for individuals from all walks of life and encourages self-improvement and employability for global citizenship.

Thus far, TAGIUNI has partnered with Thunderbird School of Global Management, Canisius College, the British Council, the International Training and Development Group, Open Thinking, E-Education Regional Company, Genashtim Innovative Learning, and Pearson-Edexcel in addition to others, with more partnerships being developed.

WAN-IFRA was created by the July 2009 merger of the World Association of Newspapers and INCA FIEJ Research Association (IFRA), the research and service organization for the news publishing industry. The two organizations have a 110-year history between them as the global representatives of the world’s press. WAN-IFRA annually organizes the two major meetings of the global newspaper and news publishing industry: IFRA Expo, which brings together publishers and the industry suppliers that support them; and the World Newspaper Congress, World Editors Forum, and Info Services Expo, the global summit of the world’s press.
