Investors Select Projects to Implement from Five Countries

AMMAN------November 21, 2012----- Entrepreneurs from Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia participating in the Commercialization Tour in Technology organized by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Technology Center, Licensing Executives society Arab Countries, Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and El Hassan Business Park met with investors and decision makers to take their projects to another level.
A host of investors showed positive response and excellent interest in the projects which are ready to be implanted mostly in the fields of information technology, communications, e-commerce, renewable energy and distance learning.
The Tour resulted in an agreement between ESCWA and LES-AC to encourage creativity and produce opportunities for entrepreneurs and investors to meet and manufacture such projects in a mechanism to spread knowledge.
HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, TAG-Org chairman, stressed on his commitment to support the Tour in cooperation with ESCWA and El Hassan Business Park saying:"We are really proud of the efforts by all participants who showed creativity and unmatched skills in various key fields. We appreciate the work of our partners in this Tour and hope to continue working on it."
He added:"We will keep encouraging creativity in the Arab world as it proved that it is unlimited through the number of participants in this initiative."
Meanwhile, Dr. Fouad Mrad, Executive Director of the ESCWA Technology Center said:"We have met with young entrepreneurs and they showed willingness to enter into ventures with investors to finance their projects and inventions and develop extent of their products to include the entire Arab region. In Egypt, we met young entrepreneurs ready to grow and partner; most were interested in expanding their market to the region especially GCC. We are fortunate to have private sector investors who trusted the organizers with qualification process of SME and took time to invest in science and technology-based startups locally initiated. Adapting technologies to solve local problems and/or improve quality of life in our community makes business sense."
While Dr. Wesam Rabadi, Executive Director of Bedaya Business Angel Network in El Hassan Business Park commended the high level of participants and their innovative ideas and called on investors to meet with them in order to finalize all details.
"There were a great level of enthusiasm and interesting discussion that in most cases we have to intervene and promise to set up follow up meetings to continue the discussions and get into further details," he said.
The Tour had 11 projects from Egypt, five from Palestine, one from Saudi Arabia meanwhile, 11 Jordanians and five Lebanese presented their projects.
