TAG-Confucius Institute Participates in Award Ceremony of “My Story with China” Short Video Contest and Wins Multiple Awards

On April 29, TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI) was invited to attend the award ceremony of the “My Story with China” Short Video Contest hosted by China Cultural Center in Amman, and received multiple awards. Nearly 300 people participated in the event, including Mr. Chen Chuandong, Chinese Ambassador to Jordan, Dr. Abdel Razzaq Arabiyat, Director of the Jordan Tourism Board, Dr. Jamal Al-Dmour, President of Jordan-China Friendship Association, Ms. Shi Wei, Cultural Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Jordan and Director of China Cultural Center in Amman, Dr. Yang Songfang, Chinese Director of TAG-CI, and representatives from various sectors of Jordan.

Since the launch of the contest, the teachers and students from TAG-CI have actively prepared for it. Under the guidance of the teachers, the students used cameras to record their own stories with China, talked about their personal experiences of studying in China, shared their insights and feelings during their stay in China, and looked back on their growth and gains through exchange programs to China. They sincerely expressed their deep affection for China, Chinese language and Chinese culture.

After evaluation by a panel of experts, four entries from TAG-CI were awarded the Third Prize, that is, “China, I Love You So Deeply” by Sara Yousef, “My Unbreakable Bond with Chinese Language” by Saja Al-Krimeen, “Learning Chinese Is So Much Fun” by Ameer Abedaelleh, and “We All Love Learning Chinese” co-created by Aqsa Al Juaidi and his younger brother and sister. In addition, Chinese Director of TAG-CI Dr. Yang Songfang and teachers Ms. Guan Xia and Ms. Sheng Guannan each received the Outstanding Guidance Award.

Ambassador Chen Chuandong pointed out in his speech that “My story with China” is not just a contest, but also a bridge connecting the hearts of the Chinese and Jordanian people. In short videos, we witnessed Jordanian friends vividly sharing their beautiful memories and deep friendship with China through sincere emotions and unique perspectives.

Cultural Counselor Shi Wei stated that short videos, as an engaging and influential medium popular among young people, can visually and vividly showcase the charm of culture, and are an important means of telling China’s stories well and promoting friendship between China and other countries.

In the future, TAG-CI will continue to participate in cultural exchange events of this kind, further enhancing students’ Chinese language proficiency and cross-cultural communication competence, deepening their understanding of China’s national conditions and culture, and continuously contributing youthful energy and fresh vitality to the development of China-Jordan friendship.
