TAG-Confucius Institute Participates in “Mid-Autumn Festival in Poetry” Event
On September 9, TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI) participated in the “Mid-Autumn Festival in Poetry” event held by China Cultural Center in Amman and performed poem recitation and dance. Chinese Ambassador to Jordan HE Mr. Chen Chuandong, Chinese Director of TAG-CI Dr. Yang Songfang, Jordanian Director of TAG-CI Mr. Mamoun Al-Sebaa, Deputy Director of TAG-CI Ms. Randa Al-Yabroudi attended the event in addition to Jordanian artists, local people and Chinese people in Jordan. More than 300 people got together to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Chen Chuandong expressed in his speech that the exchange of culture and art between China and the Arab world has a long history, and poetry is an important bridge. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, the friends gather through poetry, not only to appreciate the charm of poetry, but also to pray for the early realization of peace in the Middle East region.
After that came the performances. The adult students from TAG-CI performed the poem recitation “Song of Magnolia” and “The Mid-Autumn Moon”, while the child students performed the poem dance “A Spring Morning”. Their passionate recitation and beautiful dance resonated with the audience and aroused applauses.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional festival bearing the profound cultural connotation of China, has been an important opportunity for poets and scholars to express their feelings since ancient times. Numerous poems on the Mid-Autumn Festival are like brilliant stars illuminating the sky of history and allowing us to still feel the emotions of ancient people during the Mid- Autumn Festival even after a thousand years.
