TAG-Confucius Institute Holds a series of Celebrations for 2026 International Chinese Language Day

From April 8 to 15, on the occasion of the upcoming International Chinese Language Day, TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI) held a series of celebrations under the theme “Chinese: Sparking Colorful Dreams”.
The program featured a variety of activities, including special program filming, Chinese culture on campus, themed lectures, and cultural experience sessions, showcasing the vigorous development of Chinese language education in Jordan. About 100 participants, including Dr. Yang Songfang, Chinese Director of TAG-CI, faculty members and students, took part in the event.
During the event, TAG-CI collaborated with ChinesePlus and China Media Group to film a special International Chinese Language Day program. Focusing on “Learning Chinese in the Age of AI”, students shared how artificial intelligence supports reading, translation, and grammar analysis, while also noting its limitations in emotional understanding and linguistic nuance.
They emphasized that face-to-face communication and sustained learning remain essential. The program highlighted emerging trends in AI-empowered Chinese language education and students’ thoughtful perspectives.
At the “Chinese culture on campus” initiative, a TAG-CI teacher organized a calligraphy workshop for Grade 1 and Grade 7 students at Marshall International School. Under the teacher’s guidance, the students learned basic brush strokes and writing techniques, gaining firsthand experience of the structural beauty and artistic charm of Chinese characters.

Meanwhile, themed cultural experience activities were held at TAG-CI. Through mini-lectures, students were introduced to the origins of International Chinese Language Day, as well as cultural stories related to the Grain Rain solar term and Cangjie’s creation of Chinese characters.
Hands-on activities such as calligraphy, tea art, and paper cutting were also organized. These immersive experiences deepened students’ understanding of traditional Chinese culture and sparked enthusiastic participation.
The series of International Chinese Language Day celebrations concluded successfully in a warm and vibrant atmosphere.
Through immersive experiences and diverse interactions, the events effectively enhanced local students’ interest in learning Chinese and strengthened their appreciation and understanding of Chinese culture. Looking ahead, TAG-CI will continue to innovate its program formats, deepen people-to-people exchanges between China and Jordan, and promote the high-quality development of international Chinese education.
