On February 7, the Spring Festival Temple Fair was successfully held at Jordan National Center for Culture and Arts. The event was jointly hosted by China Cultural Center in Amman, Shaanxi Association for International Cultural Exchange, and Jordan National Center for Culture and Arts, with TAG-Confucius Institute (TAG-CI) serving as the co-organizer.
The event was attended by Mr. Nidal Ahmed, Secretary-General of Jordan Ministry of Culture; Mr. Zhao Xiaoqiang, Director of China Cultural Center in Amman; Ms. Lina Atel, Director of Jordan National Center for Culture and Arts; Dr. Yang Songfang, Chinese Director of TAG-CI; as well as representatives of TAG-CI’s faculty and students. Over 200 participants from the Chinese and Jordanian communities joined the celebration of the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Horse.
As a co-organizer, TAG-CI actively participated in event preparation and organization. Volunteers managed reception and event operations, while interactive booths offered tea ceremony, chopstick games and Chinese cuisine experience, allowing guests to enjoy the richness of Chinese traditional culture up close. Secretary-General Nidal Ahmed, accompanied by Directors Zhao Xiaoqiang and Lina Atel, visited the booths of TAG-CI and showed great interest in the cultural activities.
The fair also featured shadow puppet show, calligraphy, painting, embroidery, paper cutting, woodblock New Year printing, Chinese chess, traditional costumes, and cultural and creative products, alongside photography showcasing China’s historical landmarks, technological achievements, and natural landscapes.
In an interview, Secretary-General Ahmed stated that the temple fair, as an important part of the 2026 “Happy Chinese New Year” celebrations in Jordan, showcased the rich connotations and profound heritage of Chinese culture, particularly highlighting remarkable achievements in traditional handicrafts, cultural industries and creative arts.
He emphasized that Jordan is a country open to diverse cultures from around the world. Such events strengthen Jordan-China friendship and promote bilateral cultural exchange. The fair provided Jordanian people with a vivid introduction to Chinese culture, further enhancing mutual understanding and people-to-people ties.
