AMMAN-----December 17, 2012------The Economic Policy Development Forum (EPDF) in cooperation with the USAID/Jordan Fiscal Reform II Project (FRP II) will organize on Tuesday an exciting roundtable on Jordan Macroeconomic Trends headed by Dr. Janusz Szyrmer, Macroeconomic Advisor at FRP II at Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Knowledge Forum.
HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization and the Economic Policy Development Forum will attend the event in addition to academics, businessmen, diplomats, economists and media.
The roundtable will witness a presentation of results of a recent study of the main macroeconomic trends in Jordan during the last decade. The analysis is based on annual time series 2000-11 with additional updates for the first two quarters of 2012. The study is intended to help formulate diagnoses and test hypotheses of causality relationships among macroeconomic aggregates. It provides an initial base for research and models to be used for policy monitoring and evaluation, impact simulations and forecasting.
Dr. Janusz Szyrmer is a macroeconomic expert, with over 30 years of experience in development economics, fiscal policy, statistics and econometric modeling; having served as Professor/Lecturer, Research Analyst, Policy Advisor and Project Director, he has considerable experience in academic research and teaching, and advising and training a wide range of governments in emerging market countries in the areas of macroeconomic policy reform, fiscal management, economic data analysis and modeling.
His academic appointments were with: Polish Academy of Sciences, Polish Economic Society, School of Arts and Sciences and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University, St Antonys College of the University of Oxford, and several other American and European academic institutions. He has authored/coauthored twelve books and monographs and many academic research papers and policy advisory reports. He has served as an advisor to governments and think-tank policy advocacy/consultancy organizations of Poland, Kosovo, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Tunisia, Jordan, UAE, Zambia, India, Sri Lanka, Mongolia, and several other emerging market countries.
